Background: Thornton oversees operational accounting and reporting, cashflow management, tax and audit compliance, risk management, and investor accounting. She is also the treasurer of the MC Companies Sharing the Good Life Foundation.

Attraction to career: “My path to becoming a financial executive was a bit nontraditional. I started as a leasing agent at a multifamily community and that was 30 years ago. I worked my way through and up and into the corporate office, where I started as a staff accountant and then moved my way up to accounting manager, then controller and then into CFO.”

Source of pride: “I like being the go-to person for the owners of the company in relation to handling the money for for the company’s multiple entities and being able to take that information and simplify it into a form where we can execute plans based off of where the trends are going.”
