HomeSmart International recently announced the franchising company and more than half of its franchisees nationwide will partner together to launch a program dubbed Tools 4 Schools by HomeSmart to donate school supply necessities to thousands of children who desperately need them for the 2016-17 school year.
The program is collecting donations from the company’s more than 10,000 agents to fund the school supply kits in addition to garnering sponsor funds to allocate toward additional necessities like backpacks and toiletries for children in more than 15 markets across the United States. The schools were selected based on the high percentages of students who are on the free/reduced lunch program and are in neighboring communities to HomeSmart brokerage offices.
“One of our most highly emphasized core values at HomeSmart is to give back to the communities in which we live,” said Ashley Bowers, president and chief operating officer at HomeSmart International. “The schools we selected were done so thoughtfully so that we can impact kids who desperately need our help. Many of their families don’t have the means to provide basic supplies and the schools don’t have funding to do it either. That’s why our intention is to build a movement across our company and the industry wherein we can rally together to ensure these kids have what they need to be ready to learn at the start of the school year.”
As part of the Tools 4 School giving initiative, several HomeSmart brokerages also intend to host live events to distribute the donated school supplies to the schools/children. Additionally, HomeSmart is partnering with WeCare Anthem, a 501(c)3 organization to accept donations via Amazon Smile for the Tools 4 School initiative. Donors simply need to designate WeCare Anthem as the charity of choice on qualifying Amazon purchases.
