On October 21, 2017, Saint Mary’s Catholic High School will hold a Centennial Gala at the Sheraton Grand Phoenix – Downtown to commemorate its 100th year of Catholic secondary education. Saint Mary’s Catholic High School (SMHS) is honored to have Father John Parks as the keynote speaker at the event. The evening, will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Phoenix ballroom and will include a cocktail hour, live auction, silent auction and entertainment by Lucky Devils Band.
The gala celebrates 100 years of excellence in Catholic secondary education in Arizona. All funds raised from the event will support the students and work of Saint Mary’s Catholic High School as the school enters its second century educating the young men and women of Phoenix in the Catholic intellectual tradition.
Co-chairs for the gala are Beth Wand, Director of Operations at Sunland Water Company and Saint Mary’s Class of 2000 alum, and Barbara Bandura, First Vice President at MidFirst Bank. The masters of ceremonies at the gala will be Mark Hart from Life Teen and SMHS alumna Nicolle Hernandez Cunningham from Passport Media LLC.
Founded in 1917, Saint Mary’s is the first and oldest Catholic high school in Arizona. “There really are not that many things in the Valley that are 100 years old,” said Father Robert Bolding, President-Rector of Saint Mary’s Catholic High School. “We’re proud of our century-long tradition of excellence in Catholic secondary education here in Arizona and we’re proud to be a vital part of the Phoenix community. We look forward to carrying on our tradition with renewed vitality for the next 100 years.”
