Take Charge America, Inc., a national nonprofit credit counseling and debt management agency based in Phoenix, is partnering with Phoenix Union High School District (PUHSD) to offer personal financial management and credit counseling resources and services to the district’s nearly 3,000 full- and part-time employees.
“Changes in the payroll process for a select group of our employees has prompted a desire to provide financial education classes for all of our dedicated staff,” said Sherry Celaya, assistant superintendent for business and finance. “As educators, we know that knowledge is key, and we see our partnership with Take Charge America as an opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of our employees and their families.”
Take Charge America will offer complimentary educational sessions at each of the district’s 18 sites in April and May. Attendees will learn tips and tricks about budgeting in a fun and informative manner. The goal is to help people free up more discretionary income in their budgets and “act their wage.”
Additionally, PUHSD employees will receive take-home resources that reinforce the concepts shared during the sessions.
“PUHSD is clearly committed to improving the lives and financial wellbeing of district staff,” said Take Charge America CEO David Richardson. “These sessions will give thousands of Phoenix employees and their families access to valuable financial tools and resources, improving their personal financial health and setting them up for future success.”
