Vantage West Credit Union, Southern Arizona’s largest credit union, has introduced a new scholarship program as part of its continued commitment to financial readiness.  The program, which selects recipients based on a number of criteria, including academic merit, the quality and content of a written essay, and a student’s character as demonstrated by activities and volunteerism, awards five $1,000 scholarships for students who will be enrolled in college this fall.

Submissions will be evaluated by a panel of judges. The application deadline is April 25, 2015.

“With these scholarships, Vantage West is investing in our community’s future,” Robert D. Ramirez, Vantage West president and CEO, said. “We’re hopeful that these scholarships will alleviate part of the financial burden most young adults face when heading off to college. And, we are excited to have the ability to positively influence the financial stability of our future workforce.”

Four of the scholarships are available to any student, and one is reserved for students enrolled in the Mammoth-San Manuel Unified School District. Applicants must either be Vantage West Credit Union members in good standing, or be the minor children of members in good standing. In addition, applicants must be full-time students for the fall 2015 semester, enrolled at a state or nationally-accredited higher education institution.
