Western Maricopa Education Center (West-MEC), a career and technical education (CTE) public school district in the West Valley, has launched a new partnership with Grand Canyon University (GCU) to support students looking to further their education with a Bachelor of Applied Science.

GCU will consider eligible dual enrollment coursework and achieved certifications to help West-MEC program completers jumpstart their college career. This specialized pathway will help students potentially decrease the time it takes them to complete their bachelor’s degree.

“The goal of CTE is to give students a faster way forward in continuing education by providing unique career pathways,” said West-MEC Superintendent Dr. Scott Spurgeon. “Our partnership with GCU will allow students to advance in their education while developing career related skills and growing their professional networks.”

West-MEC also has longstanding partnerships with Northern Arizona University (NAU), Arizona State University (ASU), Universal Technical Institute (UTI) and a variety of Maricopa Community Colleges that offer dual enrollment programs to its students. Through these partnerships students are able to receive fast-track opportunities to a degree in post-secondary education.
