In the weeks leading up to the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl – which will serve as the College Football Playoff Semifinal and take place at State Farm Stadium on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026 – AZ Big Media is sitting down every Friday with a member of the Fiesta Sports Foundation family to shine a light on the event itself and also all the ways that the Foundation drives economic growth, delivers engaging experiences and champions charitable causes, inspiring pride in all Arizonans during and outside of college football Bowl Season. Today we sit down with Steven Davis, managing partner at RD Enterprises and Fiesta Bowl Yellow Jacket.

You are the second Davis we’ve interviewed!
Oh, yes. Last week, you profiled my little brother, Patrick[AB1] . Funny enough, he became a Yellow Jacket before me, but given our deep connection to the organization, I knew we would always be involved in some way when we grew up.
How did you come to volunteer with the Fiesta Sports Foundation?
Once Patrick joined, all the memories of growing up with close family friends deeply committed to the organization came roaring back, as did my young visions of making an impact to those in need across Arizona. Our family moved to Scottsdale from California when I was in eighth grade, and I was lucky that I was involved playing football. Thanks to the game, I made fast friends and competed at a high level at Horizon High School in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Our team had the chance to travel across Arizona to compete against dozens of other schools. During those trips, I saw our privilege firsthand. Our region had so much, and there were many communities I may not have seen at such a young age that needed support.
By joining the Yellow Jacket Committee, I am able to directly bridge the gap in resources and help provide access to myriad experiences, programs, and life-changing funds to those who need it most.
Tell us about your role this year?
This year, I am serving as the Captain for Digital Media Operations. This is my third year working with the media during Bowl Season, through which I support journalists, camera operators and other media from across the country as well as quite a few student journalists from the participating colleges and other universities around the country.
What has been your favorite Fiesta Bowl game to date as a spectator and why?
I am sure my brother already mentioned the Miami/Ohio State game (I looked – he did!), so I am going with the 1996 Fiesta Bowl between #1 Nebraska and #2 Florida because of Tommie Frazier. He played a pivotal role, leading the Cornhuskers to a 62-24 victory over the Gators for the national championship. He delivered a legendary 75-yard touchdown run that broke multiple tackles, a highlight that solidified his legacy in college football history and secured him MVP honors for the game. I was in high school as a player at the time, so that made it extra special as well.
The Fiesta Sports Foundation’s slogan is “Our Season Never Ends.” Share an example of how the Foundation is helping the community outside of the Bowl games themselves?
First, I feel like many people don’t know about Spirit’s Birthday Party each year. Each year, the Fiesta Sports Foundation hosts a joyful birthday celebration for Spirit, the beloved Fiesta Bowl mascot, creating magical memories for kids from the Boys & Girls Clubs\ across Arizona. The event transforms into a family-friendly festival filled with games, treats, music, and interactive activities that bring sports and community spirit to life. Children are invited to meet Spirit, enjoy photo ops, and learn about teamwork and giving back through fun, hands-on experiences. More than just a party, it’s a tradition that celebrates the power of play, inclusion, and imagination, reminding every child that the heart of the Fiesta Bowl is community, kindness, and joy.
We recently also took part in a very special back-to-school drive at Luke Air Force Base. Through it, we were able to visit the base to help outfit kids whose parents are deployed with everything from new shoes to backpacks. It was an absolute honor.
