Carondelet Health Network unveiled its first neighborhood hospital in Marana this morning, with Carondelet Marana Hospital opening its doors to serve the communities of the northwest Tucson area.

Designed as a neighborhood hospital focused on providing emergency care and surgical procedures, the hospital offers convenience and efficiency in a smaller setting compared to a typical general hospital. Like its larger Carondelet sister hospitals, it includes a 24/7 emergency department, an operating room, diagnostic imaging, laboratory and other services.

Carondelet Marana Hospital is located near the I-10 and Cortaro exit at 5620 W. Cortaro Farms Rd. and is staffed for with around-the-clock emergency physician, general surgery and hospitalist physician coverage.

Staff in all areas of the hospital have completed in-depth training along with drills and patient case scenarios in the past few weeks leading up to the opening.

The new hospital has created approximately 40 full-time equivalent clinical and support staff jobs, according to Schneider.

“We are anxious to begin providing care for our neighbors and friends,” said Kate Schneider, administrative director for Carondelet Marana Hospital. “This is an exciting opportunity for Carondelet Health Network to introduce this new model of care in Marana.”

Carondelet Health Network operates hospitals, primary care and specialty physician practices and other services throughout southern Arizona. The new hospital is designed to provide close integration with its sister facilities.
