The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Arizona is expected to grant nearly 300 wishes next year for children with life-threatening medical conditions with the help of its new talent.

Karen Mankoski, the new talent, has more than 13 years of experience in creating sustainability and raising more than $25 million for multiple Valley non-profit organizations such as Mothers Against Drunk Driving, UCP of Central Arizona, Mercy Housing, Make-A-Wish Foundation of America, Phoenix Rescue Mission, Saint Mary’s Catholic High School, and the AZ Lost Boys Center.Make-A-Wish Foundation of Arizona

Make-A-Wish President and CEO Elizabeth Reich is  “excited about Karen’s level of experience” and confident in her abilities to “grant more wishes” through meeting fundraising goals. Mankoski’s is responsible for producing more than $3 million annually for funding.

Mankoski has a passion for the mission of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which is evident with her new goal to grant more wishes by reducing the amount of time a child waits for his or her wish to be granted. Wishes usually take 12 to 18 months to grant, and Mankoski has “set a goal to grant wishes within 6 to 9 months.”

“The more money we can raise, the faster we can grant wishes and create the most memorable experience for children,” Mankoski said.

When a wish of a child is granted, he or she feels stronger, more energetic, and gains more willpower to battle their life-threatening medical condition. For many, it marks a turning point to recovery. Not only the children are affected, the families gain hope, strength and joy through this program.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Arizona is the founding chapter of the world’s largest wish granting organization. The foundation grants wishes with the help of generous donors and will grant its 4,000th wish this fall.
