Owen Owens, Ph.D., brings extensive experience on the business side of healthcare to his new position as Director of Clinical Operations for the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine Medical Center.

Owens, the owner and co-founder of the consulting firm Unbound Spirit, LLC., led the market entry of Sovereign Healthcare in Scottsdale, establishing and providing management services at four startup outpatient surgery centers with up to 140 medical professionals and staff at each location.  Owens served as Director of Operations from 2005 to 2007 and was Vice President, Operations from 2007 through 2011.

Previously, Owens was director of business development for the Medical Management Resource Group at Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center.

He earned a Ph.D. in Organizational Systems with a focus on healthcare, leadership and change management from Saybrook University in San Francisco and a Master’s Degree in Organizational Management at the University of Phoenix.  His Ph.D. dissertation was titled “Satisfaction and How It Applies to Modern Healthcare.”

Owens currently serves on the boards of directors of the North Valley Surgery Center, the Biltmore Surgical Center and the Paramount Surgery Center.  He also maintains memberships in the Medical Group Management Association, the International Coach Federation and the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association.
