Phoenix Children’s announces a new collaboration with HonorHealth to bring the pediatric health system’s expert neonatology care closer to families throughout the Valley. Beginning today, Phoenix Children’s Division of Neonatology will expand its physician services to provide neonatal care in three HonorHealth facilities: the Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at HonorHealth Scottsdale Shea Medical Center, and the Level II nurseries at HonorHealth Mountain Vista and HonorHealth Sonoran Crossing medical centers.

Under this collaboration, newborns in these HonorHealth facilities will receive expert neonatology care from Phoenix Children’s physicians. Patients will also have seamless access to the comprehensive pediatric support and extensive resources available through Phoenix Children’s, including consultations with more than 75 pediatric subspecialties. Support services are also available before and after delivery through Phoenix Children’s Center for Fetal and Neonatal Care, ensuring expert care is at the ready for high-risk pregnancies and deliveries.

“This collaboration with the stellar labor and delivery and neonatology teams at HonorHealth allows us to bring the expert pediatric care families rely on from Phoenix Children’s to more patient families than ever before,” said Gregg Martin, MD, division chief of neonatology at Phoenix Children’s and the Bill and Cathy Hudson endowed chair in neonatology.

Mary Luster, senior clinical director of NICU and pediatrics at HonorHealth, added, “Our alliance underscores a shared commitment to providing the highest level of neonatal care and exceptional service to our tiniest patients and their families while they’re with us at HonorHealth and into the future.”

With today’s announcement, the number of hospitals staffed by Phoenix Children’s neonatologists increases to seven locations throughout the Valley. In addition to the NICU at Phoenix Children’s Hospital — Thomas Campus, Phoenix Children’s currently staffs NICUs at Chandler Regional Medical Center, Mercy Gilbert Medical Center and St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center. Neonatologists from Phoenix Children’s will primarily be assigned to a specific HonorHealth location but will also rotate through the Level IV NICU on the Thomas Campus to continually reinforce their clinical excellence.
