The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP and its firm chair Kimberly Leach Johnson today announced that Nicole Stanton has been selected as the Phoenix-office managing partner. Her term begins on January 1, 2014. In her new role, Stanton becomes one of the few women to lead one of the largest law firms in Phoenix. Jon E. Pettibone, who led the office for three years while simultaneously serving as the firm’s national Labor & Employment Practice Group leader, will resume his practice full time.

“Nicole Stanton has consistently demonstrated outstanding leadership over the years, and I have no doubt she will now maintain the standard of excellence that Jon Pettibone demonstrated during his term of service in the office managing partner role,” says firm chair Kimberly Leach Johnson.

Stanton, an award-winning litigation attorney in the firm’s Commercial Litigation Practice Group, also serves as the firm’s associate general counsel as well as claims and ethics counsel for the Phoenix office. She will be one of three women who serve as office managing partner among the firm’s eight locations, highlighting the strong leadership of women within Quarles.

“Nicole has provided outstanding leadership and counsel on several legal matters and policy decisions for our institution. Her brilliant legal skills and creative solutions are complemented by an open, collaborative approach,” said Scott Thompson, CEO of Arizona Summit Law School and current client of the firm. “Nicole’s customer service and responsiveness are unparalleled.”

“I’m excited to spend even more time serving the firm’s clients now,” says current office managing partner Jon Pettibone. “I enjoyed serving the firm and its clients in my local administrative role, and I was fortunate to serve in that capacity as we have adapted to dynamic changes in our industry and the refocus on delivery of value to our clients. I’m confidently looking forward to seeing Nicole Stanton add to the firm’s tapestry of success.”

“While ensuring superior client service will always remain job one for firm leadership, I particularly look forward to deepening our connection to the community in my role as office managing partner,” said Stanton. “From our local work with Capitol Elementary School to our national anti-bullying initiative, I see Quarles & Brady as a platform for corporate social responsibility as well as legal excellence.”
