While at Bloomberg she held a variety of global roles including interim recruiting lead for Asia, HR leader for the industry verticals and chief of staff for Bloomberg Government. CAREER PATH INSPIRATION: “I fell into human resources. I was a business major and pre-law in college. After completing a number of internships at law firms during my college years, I realized law was not my passion. I love math, business strategy and building teams. I thought I would head back to school to get an MBA, but a staffing firm scooped me up and asked me to join their organization and the rest is history.”
SOURCE OF PRIDE: “Running HR at Axon. Our mission is to make the bullet obsolete and our vision is to protect life, protect truth and accelerate justice. We recently announced a moonshot goal to reduce fatal officer shootings by 50% in the next decade. Everyone at Axon has a part to play in achieving this goal and to do this we need to attract, retain and develop the best talent from a variety of diverse backgrounds. I firmly believe everyone deserves to get home safe and I think when we achieve this moonshot goal not only will we have saved lives we will have changed the fabric of America.”
SOURCE OF INSPIRATION: “Two people really had an impact on my career. I rode horses competitively growing up. I had a fantastic coach who taught me some great lessons such as the importance of having a great work ethic, taking every opportunity to learn from those around you, never settling, rising to a challenge and being appreciative of the opportunities that come across your path.
“Later in my career the co-founder of Bloomberg Government, Don Baptiste, became a mentor of mine. He constantly challenged me to think creatively outside the box to solve business challenges and pushed me to try things outside of my comfort zone. Example: Right after I had gotten engaged, Bloomberg asked me to take an international assignment. I was a single point of failure in my current position, and I was worried about leaving the business high and dry. Don encouraged me to take the assignment and explained it wasn’t just a growth opportunity for me, but it was an investment that would make me even more valuable in my role when I returned stateside. I would not be where I am today without his guidance.”
SURPRISING FACT: “I started riding horses at the age of 3 and by the age of 5 I was competing on a national level. Horses have been a huge part of my life and have brought me a lot of joy over the years.”
