WOMEN IN BUSINESS: The Most Influential Women in Arizona for 2026

WOMEN IN REAL ESTATE: The Most Influential Women in Commercial Real Estate for 2026

Anna Madrid, executive vice president, Derek Builders

Background: Madrid is an Arizona native whose professional career began 30 years ago with Westcor Partners, a commercial real estate developer specializing in the ground-up construction of retail shopping centers. Leveraging her expertise in leasing and business development, she transitioned from the developer side into tenant representation, where she led strategic growth initiatives and expanded her clients’ national brand presence. In 2019, she joined Derek Builders, where she applied her extensive experience in launching and scaling business divisions, driving organizational growth, and leading high-performing teams.

Advice to younger self: “Believe in yourself sooner. Stop worrying about having everything figured out already. Understand that career paths rarely unfold exactly as planned, and growth often comes from unexpected opportunities and challenges.”

Surprising fact: “One fact about me that most people don’t expect is that I’m a singer/songwriter. While much of my career has centered around business leadership and strategic growth, my creative side has always played an important role in shaping how I think and connect with others.”
