Rumpa Dey

Associate vice president

AECOM

Background: Dey is an associate vice president at AECOM and leads its Intelligent Transportation System & Emerging Technology Group in Arizona. She has been assisting the local transportation agencies as a trusted advisor for over 16 years by developing out of the box solutions and tackling the ever-evolving mobility and safety issues for the traveling public.

Key to success: “The key to my success is a nice combination of love, care, and support from my family along with the opportunities provided by AECOM. My amazing husband is an unlimited source of inspiration and strength. Additionally, guidance from AECOM’s leadership and the dedication of my team members, enable me to thrive in delivering a better world.”

Source of pride: “I have had the privilege of leading crucial tasks for several iconic projects across highways, roads, and transit in Arizona and beyond. For my technical expertise and contribution to the industry, I have been honored with several prestigious recognitions, including Top Young Professional by ENR SW, national Top 40 under 40 by MassTransit Magazine, 40 under 40 by Phoenix Business Journal, and Champion of Change/Business Leader of the Year by AZ Big Media.”

Surprising fact: “Enjoying the professional journey with my husband, who I met since we both were 17 years old, chose same major at college and now he holds a similar role of mine at a competing company. Occasionally, it creates delicate situations, particularly when we both pursue the same exciting projects. It creates a healthy and friendly competition, which leads to what we affectionately refer to as our ‘cone of silence’ moments.”
