McCarthy hires Sean Miller as project director

McCarthy Building Companies Inc.recently hired Sean Miller, MBA, LEED-AP, as project director for the Southwest division.

In this position, Miller will focus on developing and leading internal and external teams on healthcare construction projects to ensure a successful, integrated approach throughout all phases of the project.

Throughout his 17 years of construction work, Miller has gained extensive experience that enables him to provide value to clients starting early in the projects concept and throughout the preconstruction process. Operationally, he manages projects from start to finish including the projects preconstruction, construction and owner-occupy phases. 

 “Sean has vast experience building a wide range of healthcare projects all across the country and will be an asset to our team,” said Justin Dent, vice president of operations at McCarthy Building Companies. “He has completed continuing education courses in lean practices, last planner, pull planning and has demonstrated a drive to always improve, which fits well with the McCarthy approach to building.”

Miller is currently overseeing projects with Dignity Health and Banner Health in Phoenix.

Alliance Bank of Arizona names SVP

Chris Burson was named Senior Vice President of Commercial Real Estate Lending for Alliance Bank of Arizona. Burson comes to Alliance Bank of Arizona with over 15 years’ experience in commercial real estate banking.

Prior to joining Alliance Bank of Arizona, Burson spent eight years with MidFirst Bank in various roles including CRE relationship manager and leading the national commercial REO group. 

Burson graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Finance), Cum Laude in 2002. He is a member of Urban Land Institute (ULI), including the NEXT group and is active in the community as a youth baseball coach for little league and youth soccer coach for AYSO.

Dr. Brandon Mecham joins OrthoArizona

OrthoArizona, a premier private orthopedic practice with more than 70 physicians and 25 locations throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area, announced that Dr. Brandon Mecham has joined the practice as a board-certified Foot and Ankle Hospitalist. Dr. Mecham will provide acute foot and ankle care within the hospital systems in the East Valley. His expertise includes advanced training in reconstructive rearfoot/ankle surgery, sports medicine, arthroscopy, external fixation and diabetic care/limb salvage.

Dr. Mecham completed his undergraduate studies at Arizona State University and then went on to attend Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine, where he graduated at the top of his class. He completed a surgical residency at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where he served as chief resident. Published in multiple journals, Dr. Mecham is currently working on a research project focusing on developing new postoperative pain management protocols without the use of narcotic pain medications. Dr. Mecham is a fellow in the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and the Arizona Podiatric Medical Association.

Topaz Information Solutions names VP

Healthcare IT company Topaz Information Solutions LLC (TopazIS) has named Ken Kontowicz vice president of business development. TopazIS is a national provider of healthcare technology solutions, including electronic health records, practice management tools, population health and data analytics, and managed IT services.

In this role, Kontowicz’s responsibilities include developing new business opportunities and revenue streams, as well as working collaboratively with other members of the TopazIS team on sales activities and expanding its technology and services footprint.

Kontowicz has two decades of experience in the healthcare software industry, most recently serving as strategic account manager for behavioral health organizations with NextGen Healthcare®. He earned salesman of the year awards in both 2015 and 2016, achieving 250 percent of his quota.

“This role gives me an opportunity to leverage my experience as a solution architect working closely with a client to knit together a suite of products that meets their needs,” Kontowicz said. “TopazIS has expanded into a robust operation with clients across the U.S., and I look forward to growing our portfolio of behavioral health and integrated healthcare providers.”
