National Bank of Arizona is honoring Deborah Stone Bateman, an executive vice president and vice chairman of the board of directors for the bank, for 50 years of service in Arizona banking.

After graduating from Mesa Community College in 1971, Bateman started her career as a teller at a local bank. Since that time, she has distinguished herself not just as an Arizona banking executive, but as a leader in the Arizona community who is committed to helping those around her reach their personal and professional goals.

“I’ve worked my whole life to epitomize achievement, determination and kindness, both professionally and personally,” Bateman said. “My banking career has seen me rise from teller to executive while never losing the grounded perspective and touch that makes me a valued friend and coach.”

Outside of her work with National Bank of Arizona, Bateman is an entrepreneur in her own right. As the president and CEO of Risk Blossoming, Bateman motivates and inspires individuals to grow professionally through mentoring, inner discovery and cultural exposure. She is also the co-author of the book “Succeeding Through Doubt, Fear and Crisis.”

In addition to her work with Risk Blossoming, Bateman remains active in her community, serving on more than 30 nonprofit boards, including the Sandra Day O’Connor Institute, GPD American Heart Association, Arizona Historical Society and the Business Advisory Board for Mesa Community College. She is also a member of the Go Red for Women executive leadership team for the American Heart Association and AZ Charter 100.

Because of these outstanding contributions to the Arizona business and nonprofit communities, Deborah Bateman has received many recognitions and awards, including a Most Admired Leader Honoree by the Phoenix Business Journal, 50 Most Influential Women in Arizona Business by AZ Business Magazine, the Visionary Award by the National Association of Women Business Owners and the Women of Distinction/Leadership Award from Girl Scouts of America.
