Arizona REALTORS announces 2021 executive committee

Arizona REALTORS recently held its annual Leadership Conference to install its 2021 state and regional association officers and recognize members for outstanding leadership, community contributions and professional achievements.

Jan Leighton of JD Campbell Realty, Inc. in Peoria will begin her term as the Arizona REALTORS® 2021 President. She will serve with 2021 President-elect Gary Nelson of Realty Executives in Flagstaff, 2021 First Vice President Eric Gibbs of Realty One Group – Integrity in Tucson and Treasurer Shelley Ostrowski of Reality One Group – Gateway in Yuma. Leighton’s other leadership roles include 2019 First Vice President of Arizona Association of REALTORS® and 2008 President of West Maricopa County Regional Association of REALTORS® (WeMar). Their terms will begin December 1.

Arizona REALTORS presented its 2020 Distinguished Service Award to Lori Doerfler of Realty ONE Group, Mountain Desert – Lake Havasu. This award recognizes a member who has tirelessly provided meaningful service to the association, while having a positive impact on association members. Doerfler has been a REALTOR® for more than 17 years, filling multiple leadership roles including 2018 president of Arizona REALTORS®, 2015 treasurer of Arizona REALTORS® and 2008 president of the Lake Havasu Association of REALTORS®. She was also honored by National Association of REALTORS® as Arizona REALTOR® of the Year in 2018 as well as serving on numerous committees.

The Tyler Strout Vision Award recognizes a real estate practitioner who elevates the profile of REALTORS® in the community and embodies the association’s vision of the best prepared real estate practitioner with the highest standards. This award was given to high school sweethearts, James and Beth Adams. James and Beth lead The Adams Team of EXP Realty. With more than 26 years of combined real estate experience in Arizona, Beth served as 2009 president of Sedona/Verde Valley Association of REALTORS® and James later served as the 2017 president. Both Beth and James continue to volunteer service to the state association by serving on various committees.

Ryan Wall joins hospitality team at Colliers International in Arizona

Ryan Wall has joined the Hospitality Team at Colliers International in Arizona.  The former head of Franchise Sales and Development in the Southwest for Radisson Hotel Group has transitioned to brokerage of hospitality assets.

“Ryan brings great skills as a negotiator and sales professional,” says Bob Mulhern, senior managing director of Colliers International in Arizona.  “His experience in the hospitality industry and as a valuation consultant enhances the services of our outstanding hospitality team.”

Wall joins James Meng, Jon Grantham and Mike Montoya on the Phoenix-based team.  The team provides extensive advisory services and representation to clients in the disposition, management and acquisition of hospitality-related assets. They also advise companies and owners pursuing the monetization of real estate holdings through hospitality asset financing.

Prior to working with Radisson Hotel Group, Wall served as director of Consulting and Valuation for HVS Consulting.  In this role at the hotel appraisal and consulting firm, he worked on portfolio valuations for a wide variety of hospitality clients.

Wall holds a Bachelors of Arts degree from the School of Hospitality Business at Michigan State University.  He also is certified by the Hotel Real Estate Investments and Asset Management program at Cornell University.  

John Burns joins Colliers International in Arizona

John R. Burns has joined Colliers International in Arizona as a Senior Vice President in the Capital Markets group of the company.  A 35-year veteran of the commercial real estate industry, Burns recently relocated to Phoenix from Chicago.

“John brings a wealth of experience to Colliers, having secured institutional capital for owners and developers through asset sales and equity raised for joint-venture partnerships,” says Bob Mulhern, senior managing director of Colliers International in Arizona.  “He is a great addition to the Capital Markets team given his proven track record with institutional investors and collaborative work style.”

During his career, Burns has successfully completed more than $5.5 billion of commercial real estate sales and/or financing transactions, including $3.8 billion in office properties and $1.1 billion in industrial assets.  He is recognized as an expert in identifying and capturing market opportunities, driving revenue growth and building market share. 

Burns began his career with the Chicago development firm The John Buck Company.  He later founded and managed the Chicago office of Eastdil Realty Company (now EastdilSecured), a New York-based real estate investment banking firm.  Burns joins Colliers following eight years as Principal of Keystone Realty Capital where he opened and managed the Connecticut-based investment brokerage’s Chicago office.

Burns is a licensed Real Estate Broker in the State of Arizona and Managing Broker in the State of Illinois.
