Suburban co-working spaces added in Metro Phoenix this year boosted the region straight into third place, according to the Coworking Suburbs Report. While the number of co-working spaces in bedroom communities grew by 1% nationwide, Metro Phoenix managed to score a whopping 22% increase compared to 2023, with Scottsdale co-working spaces leading the way.

That is according to our annual Coworking Suburbs Report, where we have identified the top suburban areas for coworking spaces using our proprietary data. This way, we discovered 43 suburbs nationwide that each boast at least 10 coworking spaces. At the metro level, we focused on the ones that have at least three such suburbs, highlighting the top 5.

Here are some of the Arizona highlights:

  • The Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale metropolitan area joined the ranking this year thanks to the 77 coworking spaces in its suburban areas, a number that grew from 63 spaces in 2023;
  • Scottsdale leads the pack in the Phoenix metro, boasting 29 coworking spaces and moving up the ladder to second place – given the 7 spaces gained since last year;
  • Mesa follows with 13 coworking spaces (same as Henderson, NV) – gaining one more space compared to 2023;
  • Tempe rounds up the numbers in the Phoenix metro, with its 11 flex spaces – two more compared to 2023.

Some of the main highlights at national level:

  • In 2024, suburban areas accounted for 45% of the total coworking spaces in the U.S., a 1% increase from the previous year;
  • This translates into over 2,500 flex spaces in the suburbs, compared to over 3,100 such urban spaces;
  • 427 of the total coworking spaces in suburban areas are operated by Regus, followed at a distance by OpusVO and HQ with 79 and 61 spaces, respectively;
  • For the second year in a row, Irvine, CA took the crown as the top suburb in the nation for the highest number of coworking spaces, featuring 38 flex spaces.
