The impact of self-driving cars and other vehicle technologies on Arizona will be examined at the Arizona Association for Economic Development‘s (AAED) February luncheon.
Speakers will discuss self-driving cars, and new transportation partners that are operating in the state, as well as Arizona taking the charge with these emerging technologies.
The luncheon, on Feb. 14 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at 2901 N. Seventh St. in Phoenix, will have Eric Anderson, transportation director for Maricopa Association of Governments; Stephen Conschafter, AICP, LEED AP, urban designer and planner for SmithGroupJJR; and Phil Raher, general manager for Local Motors, as speakers.
Each speaker will share their views on vehicle technology, transportation planning, and urban design and how this future reality will change everything from the way we attract talent, develop sites and the planning needed from municipalities.
Waymo, Google’s self-driving car project turned company, has been testing its cars in the Valley since April. Ride-sharing company Uber has recently started operating its self-driving cars in Arizona.
The luncheon’s cost is $40 for AAED members and guests, $55 for non-members and $60 for late registrants. Those interested, can register for the event online by Thursday, Feb. 9 by noon. Vegetarian meals must be requested in advance.
