Brian McCartin will be the new President and CEO of the Tempe Tourism Office.

Before his recent move back to Arizona, McCartin was executive vice president at Travel Portland, the tourism office in Portland, Oregon. During his tenure at Travel Portland, his experience included responsibility for convention and tourism sales, marketing, communications and cultural tourism. He was involved in creating a Multicultural Meetings Study and led an initiative to develop an advisory council to produce more opportunities for the city.

McCartin also has a background in the hotel industry. Throughout his career, he has worked as a hotel sales manager, director of sales and marketing and a general manager. He graduated from Northern Arizona University with a degree in Hotel and Food Service Management from the W.A. Franke College of Business.

McCartin will officially begin working at the Tempe Tourism Office on December 4. He is succeeding Stephanie Nowack, who recently announced her retirement after 18 years with the organization.

“Brian’s years of experience in both tourism marketing and the hotel industry, along with his demonstrated record of forming community partnerships and collaborating with elected officials, will provide strong leadership for the Tempe Tourism team,” said Michael Reed,
Senior Director of Programs & Organizational Initiatives at ASU Gammage and Tempe Tourism Office Board Chair. “We are excited for him to guide us into the next chapter of our organization.”
