Founded in March 2005 by Veronique James, The James Agency has grown from a one-woman operation to a dynamic team of creative professionals specializing in all facets of branding, digital marketing, public relations and advertising. 

James founded TJA after working in agencies where poor communication with clients and lack of accountability led to inefficiencies. She saw an opportunity to build a firm centered on transparency and trust.

Determined to change the industry standard, James built TJA on the pillars of client transparency and trust. These philosophies have led to industry-breaking client longevity and staff retention. Nationally, only 20% of marketing agencies are still in business after the first year and only 16% of small businesses make it past the 20 year mark. 

Alongside TJA’s leadership team, James has steered the ship through all of the country’s make-it-or-break it economic downturns in the past two decades, including the 2008 economic crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic. She attributes this accomplishment to the adaptability of the team and the agency’s “win together, lose together mentality,” which is supported by a team of tenured leaders including Chief Creative Officer Shane Tang (18 years at TJA), Creative Director Darren Simoes (14 years at TJA), President Megan Simoes (12 years at TJA) and Production Director Jillian Green (11 years at TJA). 

“TJA began as a one-woman show, but it’s far from that today,” James said. “While the business has my name on the door, TJA’s success is a testament to our team’s ability and adaptability to weather any challenge that’s thrown at us. Over the years, TJA has worked with a diverse portfolio of clients across hospitality, real estate, retail and lifestyle industries, consistently producing award-winning campaigns that drive results. Today the agency boasts 39 full-time employees and has secured notable clients such as Fox Restaurant Concepts, USA Pickleball, Ray Cammack Shows, Hotel Valley Ho, Northern Arizona University (NAU) and the City of Scottsdale.

TJA has also collected industry awards and workplace accolades throughout its two decades, including the Inc. 5000 2024 list of the country’s fastest-growing privately held companies, #327 of 500 Inc.
