Cox Communications, in partnership with Valley Metro and Mesa Public Schools, distributed close to 70 computers and Cox internet service to pre-qualified students and families at Holmes and Lincoln elementary schools. The internet service is provided through Cox’s Connect2Compete program. In total, families in the Mesa Public Schools have received over 140 computers and Cox internet services through the generous partnership.
Connect2Compete is a program offering discounted internet service ($9.95 per month) for families with at least one K-12 student qualifying for a free or reduced school lunch through the National School Lunch Program, or who qualify for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) or the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
“What an amazing opportunity for our school’s families to be able to have access to technology their homes,” said Helen Hollands, executive director of technology and communication at Mesa Public Schools. “Thanks to our long-standing partnership with Cox and the Connect2Compete program and now Valley Metro, we are making a lasting impact on the learning and achievement for our students.”
The computer equipment was donated by Valley Metro to Mesa elementary students who were able to receive a free computer and Cox Communications internet services through this partnership.

Cox Communications has partnered with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to support its ConnectHome initiative. Families with K-12 children who live in Public Housing, as well as K-12 families who receive Tenant-Based Vouchers, Project-Based Vouchers or Section 8 Project-Based Rental Assistance (PBRA) are eligible for Cox’s Connect2Compete discounted internet service offer.
