Danielle Casey, the economic development director for the City of Scottsdale, is stepping down.
“After having a truly amazing experience leading the City of Scottsdale’s economic development department since 2013, I am excited and honored to have accepted the position of executive vice president for the Greater Sacramento Economic Council, beginning August 20,” Casey said in a statement.
Her last day with the City of Scottsdale is Friday, Aug. 3.
“I am unbelievably proud of the economic development accomplishments that have been made in the past five years,” Casey said. “Clearly and without question, none of this would have been possible without the support and partnership among the city team and through our amazing partners and supporters in the local, regional and Arizona community. I will miss you all and would like to express my thanks to you and to the amazing City of Scottsdale for the opportunity to have served such a fantastic and iconic city. While leaving such a wonderful role for a new opportunity is difficult and bittersweet, I am absolutely confident that this team will continue to drive itself to success without skipping a beat.”
Rob Millar will serve as acting economic development director for the City of Scottsdale.
Danielle Casey was responsible for the oversight and execution of business attraction, retention and expansion, small business and entrepreneurial support and employment center revitalization initiatives in the City of Scottsdale. Previously, Casey had spent eight years with the City of Maricopa, including two years as economic development director and the last year as assistant city manager. She is chair of the GPEC Economic Development Director’s Team.
Casey holds a bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University and a master’s degree from Northern Arizona University. She is a Certified Economic Developer (International Economic Development Council) and a Certified Economic Development Finance Professional (National Development Council).
