Estrella by Newland Communities has broken ground on its newest village, a 617-acre development. Thoughtfully planned by renowned land planning and architectural firm Swaback Partners, the village will encompass neighborhoods designed to offer fresh architectural styles in a hillside setting, surrounded by parks, trails, and community amenities. Slated to open in in spring 2019, Lucero will be the first new area of the master-planned community to debut since 2007, when the village known as Montecito opened. Zoning for Lucero was initially approved in 2013 and Estrella’s steady growth over the past few years has paved the way for the expansion.

Located on Estrella Parkway, near the entrance of the community, Lucero and its amenities have been intentionally designed to showcase the area’s panoramic view of the Sierra Estrella Mountains and offer a contemporary take on desert living. Phase one of Lucero will feature six intimate neighborhoods from five homebuilders, a model village, café, and local bicycle shop. True to the community’s focus on active, outdoor lifestyles, Lucero will include 10+ miles of biking and hiking trails. When Lucero is completed, the Estrella community will boast more than 50 miles of paths and trails, with more still to come as the community grows.

“Since Newland Communities took over as the managing developer of Estrella, we have been working to elevate the community’s status as a premier place to live in the West Valley,” said William Olson, Senior Vice President and Division Manager for Newland Communities. “Lucero will introduce new homebuilders to Estrella’s already outstanding cadre of builders and bring fresh amenities into the thriving community.”

The village of Lucero will feature Casa Lucero, the community’s new welcome center that will also be home to the café and bicycle shop – all of which will be open to the public. Locally owned and operated, the café will feature specialty coffees, smoothies, and quick bites as well picturesque, panoramic views of its hillside setting and Estrella’s landmark Star Tower. Conveniently located near the entrance to Estrella’s expansive trail system, Trek Bicycle Store West Phoenix will operate a satellite location from Casa Lucero where it will sell and rent mountain bikes and equipment and provide expert fitting and repair services. With plenty of seating and gathering areas, plus an event lawn, Casa Lucero promises to be an exciting hub of recreation and information for existing and potential residents of the Estrella community.

In addition to Lucero, Estrella features three other villages – including CantaMia, a gated 55+ community – and offers distinctive floor plans and a wide range of price points from nearly a dozen homebuilders.
