The UFC returns to Melbourne, Australia to present UFC 234 on Saturday, February 9. Middleweight champion and Australian resident Robert Whittaker returns to the cage for the first time at home since 2016 to take on the current No. 4 ranked contender Kelvin Gastelum, a native of Yuma, in the main event. Whittaker puts his title on the line in his first title defense. Both Whittaker and Gastelum are coming off wins. Whittaker competed in UFC 225 to take down Yoel Romero, while Gastelum won against Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza in UFC 224.

The co-main event is between former middleweight champion Anderson Silva and the undefeated, rising star Israel Adesanya. It’s been two years since Silva’s last fight, meaning Adesanya wasn’t even the UFC the last time Silva was the octagon. The winner is expected to compete for the title, opposing the winner of Whittaker vs. Gastelum.
