Ken Garff Automotive Group launched its annual “Drive Out Hunger” campaign to improve the lives of local children facing food insecurity.

Employees of the five Phoenix-area dealerships assembled 800 red bags filled with nonperishable food (including oatmeal, macaroni and cheese, cans of tuna, cereal and apple sauce) and delivered them to students at local schools.

According to Feeding America, an estimated 1 in 5 children face uncertainty about their next meal. The summer months can be especially challenging as students lose access to the free and reduced-price meals they receive during the school year.

“‘Drive Out Hunger’ is about more than just food; it’s about showing up for our communities and helping ensure that children have the nourishment they need to learn and thrive,” said Brett Hopkins, Ken Garff Automotive Group’s chief executive officer.

“We’re hoping to help bridge that critical food gap that children and families face during the summer months.”

In addition to employee-led efforts, each Ken Garff dealership will host a community food drive through June 20, 2026. Nonperishable food items can be donated to the “Fill This Car” display. The contents will be donated to local food banks.

This is a multi-state initiative across the Ken Garff Automotive Group in May and June. The company is contributing $660,000 in food and funds across the nine states where it has dealerships.

In its third year, “Drive Out Hunger” is part of Ken Garff’s “We’re ‘Hear’ for You” program, an employee-run philanthropic initiative during which employees engage in hands-on service. “We’re ‘Hear’ for You” is a play on the dealership group’s tagline “We Hear You.”
