The Westgate Entertainment District has announced a new validated parking program to help alleviate space conflicts during special events while incentivizing patronage at Westgate businesses. Its close proximity to Gila River Arena and University of Phoenix Stadium results in increased event traffic filling lots and limiting availability for district customers. With this new program, all Westgate lots will charge a fee to park on Stadium and Arena event dates, but guests who choose to visit one of the retail and dining locations will receive discounts of equal value.
“We want to create an environment at Westgate that is welcoming to the public, even on busy event days,” said Dan Dahl, director of real estate for YAM Properties. “We feel it is important to support our tenants and find ways to entice both event and nonevent attendees to enjoy our shopping and dining options.”
Westgate will charge $10 a car to park in its lots on major event days, starting with the Arizona Cardinals home game on September 9. Fans and visitors who choose to park in a Westgate-owned lot and visit one of its businesses can show their parking receipt for up to $10 off their bill at participating locations – essentially parking for free. Westgate lots will accept cash and credit and debit cards. Only same-day receipts will be accepted and are valid for one-time use.
Management will also hold hundreds of free parking spots that will be opened to the public 30 minutes following the event start time making it more convenient for nonevent attendees to visit the Westgate complex. In the past, Westgate lots would often be filled to capacity on event nights. This new initiative ensures ample free parking for patrons who can come and enjoy Westgate after an event starts in the Stadium or Arena. Parking will remain free on all nonevent days.
