If you have an eye for color and a curiosity for creativity, Tempe Marketplace wants to hear from you! The shopping center seeks local artists for a permanent installation and a trademark April event.

Want to see your work on display for years to come? Tempe Marketplace will select a handful of exceptional pieces to adorn the massive graphic panels that are on display throughout the property. The panels will be used to bring color and local life to highly visible areas that thousands of visitors pass by every day.

The art medium and style are up to you – paint, graphic design, photography and beyond. Submissions should refrain from any obscene, offensive or political matters. If your panel submission is selected, you will receive $1,000 and specs to finalize your piece by Friday, Feb. 14. Submissions should be delivered in a high-resolution format to mhines@vestar.com and eandrews@vestar.com no later than Friday, Jan. 31.

The annual Chalk Walk Festival will take place on Saturday, April 25 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Tempe Marketplace seeks talented chalk artists to transform the sidewalks of The District into beautiful works of art. Event attendees watch as local muralists create spectacular works throughout the shopping center and have the opportunity to create their own colorful inspirations.

The theme for 2020’s Chalk Walk Festival is “Planet Earth.” Artists are encouraged to submit designs representing our magnificent planet. Artists interested in submitting their ideas for consideration can do so here by the Tuesday, March 18 deadline.

The panels and Chalk Walk are part of Tempe Marketplace’s initiative to use local art throughout the shopping center to create lively, interactive experiences for visitors. Other Tempe Marketplace art installations include The Greats Wall, an homage to musical greats like David Bowie, Bob Marley and Whitney Houston, located across from Bath & Body Works in The District. Additional Tempe Marketplace art integrations include the upcoming Flower Bomb Festival, Umbrella Pop and surprising new installations throughout the year.
