In May, CrossFit Inc. and Beyond the Whiteboard (BTWB) signed an exclusive agreement to link the data-driven fitness company with a software platform that will help CrossFit athletes and Affiliates maximize their results.

BTWB’s software and app will be rebranded as CrossFit BTWB, and CrossFit will have access to much of BTWB’s data, which is user opt-in enabled and tracks daily workout performance and training habits.

Workout tracking has long been a key feature of the CrossFit program, created by CrossFit Founder Greg Glassman. Glassman provided the world’s first measurable, observable, repeatable definition of fitness, proving that performance data is essential to optimal training. The numbers don’t lie: Move more weight over a greater distance in less time and you are measurably fitter. Athletes who track workouts can also evaluate performance against health metrics, including blood sugar, cholesterol, triglycerides and more, allowing them to improve their overall health and avoid chronic disease.

BTWB was born organically when Jonathan Kinnick and Moe Naqvi tried to find a way to more easily track workout results in a garage gym that later became CrossFit Kinnick. They developed a website and began offering their service to CrossFit Affiliates and athletes who wanted a way to quickly log workouts and track results over time.

The new partnership between CrossFit and BTWB will connect more athletes and Affiliates to a service that can help people become measurably fitter and healthier.

“BTWB was born out of the CrossFit Affiliate community and is the single largest storehouse of WOD-performance data available. CrossFit athletes of every shape, size and skill level will benefit from tracking their training results in the BTWB community platform,” said Jeff Cain, CrossFit CEO. “We’re proud to formalize what has been nearly a decade-long informal relationship with the premier CrossFit tracking platform.”

The partnership runs until Dec. 31, 2020.
