As Baby Boomers venture into retirement, where and how they will live are monumental considerations before starting a new stage in life. In a recent study from Trilogy by Shea Homes, surveying over 1,000 home shoppers above the age of 50 nationwide, 89 percent indicated that they would like their next home floorplan to have an expanded great room, optimal for multifunctional living. Almost 83 percent of home shoppers said they would like large secondary bedrooms. When asked about lifestyle, over 70 percent of participants are seeking to be socially active within their community as a part of their daily life.
To meet the desired functional needs homebuyers’ wish for when downsizing, the national leading 55-plus and active lifestyle community brand is introducing its newest portfolio of homes – The Freedom Collection.
“The Collection is Trilogy’s solution to delivering more functional, livable spaces within more efficient floorplans at attractive price points,” said Jeff McQueen, President of Trilogy by Shea Homes. “Our objective is to make it easier than ever before to live a five-star worthy lifestyle.”
The Freedom Collection’s floorplans maximize every square foot of space within a home, creating more livability and functionality in smaller square footage layouts. Now offered at Trilogy communities in Florida, North Carolina and California with plans to expand, the Collection’s portfolio of eight home designs range from 1,448 to 2,367 square feet depending on floorplans available at each community.
The new plans were designed from the ground up as totally new concepts, created to meet more buyer demand in each market. Each home from the Collection offers an open concept floorplan, with expanded great rooms and kitchens that provide a volume of space not expected in designs of these dimensions. Unique to homes that have a smaller footprint, most floorplans feature three bedrooms which can also be used as multifunctional space by transforming into his and her offices, hobby room, library or a fully-equipped multigenerational suite. Select floorplans offer three bedrooms plus a den, and some include two and a half car garages – features not typically found at these square footages.
