The Vintage Arcadia, a new storefront and neighborhood gathering spot established by the entrepreneurs behind Junk in the Trunk Vintage Market, is celebrating its grand opening this weekend. Once you step inside, you’ll be able to explore a showroom featuring curated, unique vintage and antique goods, visit their space for rotating local vendors selling clothing, accessories, home decor, beauty products and more, enjoy a refreshing cocktail on an outdoor patio, hold your next meeting in their spacious private meeting room and try a variety of handcrafted food and drinks at Chestnut at The Vintage–breakfast or lunch during the day or cocktails and a bar menu at night.
Co-founders Coley Arnold and Lindsey Holt founded Junk in the Trunk Vintage Market in 2011 and hold their annual market at WestWorld of Scottsdale and hold events in California in San Diego, Pamona and the Bay Area and created The Foundress in 2018, a team of powerful women who encourage and inspire each other and the surrounding community through mentorship, round-table discussions and once a month networking. Now they have added another entity to their growing presence in Arizona: The Vintage Arcadia. The entrepreneurs said they wanted to establish The Vintage Arcadia as a permanent space where people in the community can gather, shop and eat.
“When we started Junk in the Trunk, we always kind of joked about having a storefront, but we’re moms; Lindsey has three kids, I have four kids, and it was never something that we thought would actually come to fruition,” Arnold said.
However, after Holt’s husband joined their team four years ago, Arnold said, they began looking for spaces. Holt said they wanted the storefront to be in Arcadia or Scottsdale, since they felt those areas were where their community existed and wanted to create a space for them.
They found their current space, which was built in the 1950s, two years ago, and began a full remodel in May 2019, adding on two back buildings including their 1,000-square-foot event space and opened their doors quietly on Feb. 10.
“We knew we wanted The Vintage Arcadia to be a neighborhood place where we could run in, grab a cup of coffee, grab a gift for that birthday party later that day or grab a gift for a friend that needed a little pick me up,” Holt said.
“We were looking for a restaurant that made sense with our brand that was also all about community and providing a neighborhood restaurant, and Kirsten Steele (owner of Chestnut) is one of our good friends, and the more we started talking about what we wanted in this space, it just made sense,” Holt said. “Our vision was the same, we both had the goal of creating a community environment and a place for everyone to gather together.”
Chestnut offers fast-casual breakfast and lunch by day with menu items that include Green Eggs and Ham and The S’Mores Stack pancakes, and salads, bowls and sandwiches for lunch. And their nighttime concept, The Bar at The Vintage, serves cocktails like Apricot Eyes with apricot infused gin, genepy de alps, campari, lemon juice and the Lavender Margarita with tequila blanco, lime, lavender honey, benedictine and their tasty Shareables items like bacon popcorn, loaded potato crisps and blue cheese, fig and caramelized onion flatbread.
In addition to the delicious food options, The Vintage Arcadia has a selection of vintage and one-of-a-kind dishware, home goods and clothing that Arnold and Holt source from across the country, some standouts include their custom patch denim jackets for adults and kids, plus vintage jewelry and unique products sold by local vendors at their pop-up.
To cultivate the community of the space, The Vintage Arcadia has two event spaces: a large 1,000 sq. ft. space optimal for networking with an outdoor patio, and a more intimate space with 16 chairs, a fireplace and library. “The fireplace room, which is basically like a conference room, we created because we were looking for a space that we could never find, so we were always looking to have meetings and a warm, homey environment and that space didn’t exist,” Holt said.
Arnold said the idea for The Vintage Arcadia came about because she and Holt wanted something unique and different that wasn’t out there. “We really want this to be a place where people can bike over for dinner with their family, but then also come and have a date night or a girls’ night, so it really is very versatile. We want people to feel comfortable and welcome here and for it to be a community hangout.”
The Vintage Arcadia’s Grand Opening Weekend will include a pop-up from 12 local vendors selling handmade products, samples and treats from Chestnut, giveaways and live music.
