POMO Pizzeria has been bringing true Italian food to the Valley for over a decade now. With three locations, many Arizona residents are sure to find an Italian treat near them. The Biltmore location opened in 2019 and was recently revamped.

This location threw a fun, little open house style party to celebrate their reopening, Thursday, and the use of their brand new Napoletana oven. This oven is ideal for pizzerias due to its construction. It is built into a low dome shape with a small open mouth and a wood burning fire inside allowing the oven to reach extremely high temperatures.

The event offered samplings of both the pizza and pasta the restaurant regularly serves.

A classic margherita pizza graced plates with a heavenly aroma floating off of them. Tomato sauce, mozzarella, parmigiano and basil danced together on my tongue to create a production of flavor. The crisp crust had hints of the wood burning fire left on its edges with a slight bitterness enhancing the taste of the slice as a whole.

The restaurant offers a variety of other pizzas to choose from. Pizzas are offered with ingredients including but not limited to a variety of cheeses, prosciutto, sausage, garlic, zucchini and eggplant.

Penne pasta was served in POMO’s authentic Bolognese meat sauce. A luscious texture and simple sweet but savory experience awaited as I mixed the pasta around in the sauce before popping it in my mouth. Although the menu items that do contain this sauce do not include penne as the pasta shape, I highly recommend anything with this sauce on it.

Other pasta options come draped in cream sauces, butter sauces and basil sauces topped with a variety of cheeses, vegetables and/or meats.

On your visit, you can choose to round out your meal with several choices of appetizers, salads and desserts — I have my eye on the crème brûlée.

The Biltmore location is nestled right in the heart of Biltmore Mall. It is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. as well as Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.

The franchise also has locations in Scottsdale and Downtown Phoenix.
