Saguaro Scottsdale, a 194-room hotel in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale, is unveiling over 12,000 square feet of fresh indoor and outdoor event space and extensively renovated rooms this October.
The relaunch includes the introduction of the Agave Ballroom and Patio, an ultra-flexible 5,285-square-foot event complex with a wraparound patio with fireplaces, fire pits and multiple outdoor dining and entertaining spaces at the foot of Scottsdale’s lush Civic Center Park.
“With the addition of the Agave Ballroom and Patio, we now have all the requisites to be event central,” said Dennis Park, director of sales and marketing. “We can accommodate social functions and corporate meetings of all sizes, from a reception for up to 500 people overlooking Scottsdale’s scenic art destination, Civic Center Park, to a conference for 200 that includes separate dining and cocktail spaces, plus an office or boardroom. Guests will also be able to host intimate dinner celebrations with friends next to the fireplace on our Agave Patio.”
For weddings, the hotel can accommodate rooms for up to 150 guests while serving as the site for the ceremony, reception, and all pre and post events.
“With our enviable location in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale, plus top-notch amenities including expansive bar space, free Wi-fi, state-of-the-art audio visual, plus the new Saguaro Restaurant, the Saguaro spa and our high-energy Picante pool, our creative staff has all the tools to make each event nothing short of stellar,” Park said.
The Saguaro will be giving a discount to groups booking the new space this Fall. The hotel’s current ballroom and its breakout space, unaffected by the renovation, is fully open for business this summer.
Also new to the Saguaro this October is a complete renovation of its rooms, which have been uniquely redesigned to accommodate both business and vacation travel, and feature fully-updated bathrooms and amenities. Highlights include sound-proof wood doors, RFID (radio frequency identification) and Blue Tooth technology that allows guests to check-in and access their rooms via smartphone, luxurious pillow-top mattresses and ergonomic desks; plus 42-inch flat screen cable TVs, Keurig coffee makers, mini-refrigerators, natural wood vanities and Lather bath products. New rooms will also display a fresh art program with works from artists including photographer Colleen Durkin. All rooms come with either a private balcony or patio overlooking a pool, garden, or city view.
The property upgrades come as New York-based Sydell Group, currently owner of Saguaro Scottsdale and Saguaro Palm Springs, takes over management of the hotel.
“We are excited to be a part of Sydell Group,” said Joe Iturri, managing director of Saguaro Hotels. “They are a very entrepreneurial company that encourages a personalized service approach by hiring fun and energetic individuals and coaching them to connect with guests on the right level. I am thrilled to work with a great team of people who love what they do.”
The Sydell Group is the creator and manager of unique hotels rooted in their location, architecture and collaborations; it includes a diverse portfolio of award-winning properties including: The NoMad, New York; The Line Hotel, Los Angeles; Freehand Miami & Chicago and upcoming openings in Los Angeles, Washington DC, Austin, New York and London.
In the spirit of Sydell Group’s commitment to collaboration, the Saguaro is proud to continue its relationship with several local partners. Throughout the hotel, Art One Gallery rotates and displays eye-catching modern art created exclusively by local artists and students.
The Saguaro’s distinctly colorful interiors and exteriors are featured in countless fashion photo shoots for Ford/Robert Black Agency, who hold weekly model casting calls and talent auditions at the Saguaro. And for every room night sold, per guest (guests can opt out), a dollar is collected to benefit STARS, a local organization committed to providing high-quality services to adults with disabilities. Saguaro Gives helps fund three primary program areas: Day Programs, Vocational & Employment Services and Transition Services and Transition Services, to create a lifetime support system for participants and their families.
