There is a new kid on the Uptown-block as Los Sombreros opens their new location in Uptown Phoenix, offering the authentic Central Mexican inspired fare they have been known for in Scottsdale since 1994. To celebrate the expansion, a grand opening event will be held on Dec. 13 at the new location located at 322 E. Camelback Rd.

The 2,000-square-foot restaurant has seating for 100 guests and weaves in elements from the original location in Scottsdale. Authentic quaint brick house style, welcoming veranda with hand-painted murals of San Miguel de Allende, wood-burning grill and genuine dishes, all with a trendy uptown vibe created by Meredith Smyth Design Studio.

“For those who have not experienced our food, I think they will have a whole new appreciation of what Mexican food can be,” says co-owner Kurt Riske. “While traveling to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico City and Oaxaca last month we were thrilled to see the culinary experience we provide is staying true to the traditional fare of the region and know our clientele will taste and feel the difference between the Tex-Mex style Arizonans are accustomed to.”

The Grand Opening will feature half-off entrees, $6 Steve-a-Rita’s, $3 draft beers and the first 50 people in line at the restaurant at 11 am will receive a complimentary Margarita Club Card which grants them 30 margaritas in 30 days to be used however they would like with friends and family. For those who sign up for the restaurants E-Club, they will also have a chance to win Christmas Tamales.

“Whether a date night, evening out with friends or weekend brunch, Los Sombreros provides the perfect combination of delicious food and drinks, inviting environment and friendly staff,” says co-owner Adam Rivera.

The Uptown Phoenix location replaced SunUp Brewing Company’s restaurant space at 3rd Street and Camelback Road and has been fully renovated to bring the rustic, Los Sombreros feel that diners have enjoyed for decades. Catering service will be available at the Uptown Phoenix location as well as the Scottsdale location.

“We have always prided ourselves on being a good neighbor and creating an atmosphere that is welcoming to the community around us and look forward to building that rapport with the Uptown and Camelback Corridor communities,” says co-owner Geoff Schuman.

Los Sombreros will be open Sunday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. with weekend brunch served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Happy Hour deals on  popular menu items, microbrew and craft cocktails will be available from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m, Monday through Friday.
