Launching “The Ultimate Serve,” a one-of-a-kind tasting of Glenfiddich’s finest Scotch whiskies perfectly paired with Arizona-inspired bites, The Scotch Library at The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa created a culinary journey that carries guests from the Highlands of Scotland to the lush desert of Scottsdale.
This very special experience, guided by the Scotch Library’s knowledgeable Scotch Ambassadors, is offered in an ambience of relaxed comfort and conversation surrounded by a library comprised of more than 200 Scotch whiskies as well as art and writings that celebrate the essence of Arizona.
Subtle touches including a custom Kierland Tartan and iconic Scotch Library logo bearing the Scottish Lion against the backdrop of the Arizona flag add to the sense of celebration of the two cultures.
With The Ultimate Serve, guests are treated to four Glenfiddich whiskies masterfully paired with a selection of sweet and savory offerings specially created for the experience by Executive Chef Christopher Masco.
The Glenfiddich 15-year-old’s combination of fruit, gentle spice and touch of oakiness pair exquisitely with the Scotch Library’s offering of Rogue Smokey Blue Cheese-stuffed Castelvetrano Olives.
The fruity and robust oak flavors of the Glenfiddich 18-year-old are brought to life with the Cracked Pepper and Sugar-Cured Scottish Loch Etive Steelhead Trout with Cucumber, Aji Amarillo Pepper and Shaved Green Onion.
Continuing on the cross-cultural culinary journey, the Scotch Library pairs the Glenfiddich 21-year-old with a Sea Salt-Dusted Arizona Grown Prime Beef Tenderloin Crostini with Micro-Celery and Charred Tomato Aioli.
The marriage of this mature whisky, which bears the subtle essence of oak casks that also aged fine Caribbean rums, with the savory prime beef tenderloin sourced from a nearby Arizona purveyor, is a happy and successful union indeed.
This one-of-a-kind “Ultimate” experience concludes with what will become a Scotch lover’s sweetest memory, the elegant pairing of the rare Glenfiddich 50-year-old with a Dark Chocolate Mousse Tart finished with Toasted Hazelnuts and a Caramelized Scotch Pulled Sugar Nest.
The Ultimate Serve is among the most unique experiences offered by The Scotch Library, whose commitment to furthering the love of Scotch through its extensive collection and educational offerings is unique in the Southwest.
Each Friday, The Scotch Library’s Ambassadors invite the public for An Evening of Scotch: lively, educational, one-hour tastings. Monthly master tastings hosted by a Master of Scotch from leading Scotch producers provide yet another opportunity for guests to learn while they sample.
The Ultimate Service is priced at $1,500 per person. A minimum 24-hour advance reservation is required. For information, call 480-624-1202.
