The Barley Hound, a Prescott staple and the city’s beloved first gastropub, has reopened after nearly a year’s remodeling closure to unveil the first phase of a renovation that boasts a refreshed look along with an impressive new menu.

An original concept by Vivili Hospitality Group, The Barley Hound has revamped its highly-sought after patios to accommodate more guests. The restaurant is home to the best patios in Prescott for al fresco dining with both front yard and backyard areas, which have been reimagined to provide a better experience by adding more lounge-type spaces, increasing seating on the covered porch and planting a full-size tree for shade and ambiance. Other improvements include expanding indoor seating by 30%, a larger bar area, a brand-new kitchen, replaced flooring, restored restrooms and other design details such as décor, lighting and wall coverings.

The eclectic spot with a hipster vibe is now open Thursday through Sunday with limited hours, which can be viewed at TheBarleyHound.com for the latest updates. To help meet demand, reservations at the restaurant are available for the first time and can be made through OpenTable.

Leaving its historical charm unchanged, the legendary location is remaining true to the Victorian-style home dating back to the early 1900s by keeping the house’s exterior the same amid the renovations. The second phase of the renovation, expected to be completed this fall, will see the reopening of the back patio area and full-bar housed in a rugged shipping container.

“The Barley Hound is such a special place in Prescott and we’re seeing just how much it was missed with reservations already quickly selling out among both locals and tourists looking to revisit its spark,” said Skyler Reeves, proprietor of Vivili. “We took our time with this renovation, working closely with Wojciak Interiors, to keep the same elements that give the restaurant its character and we’re proud to debut the first phase of the makeover by reopening our doors for new memories to be made.”  `

The opening menu by Chef Tony Burris features fan favorites such as Duck Fat Fries ($6), ‘Merica Burger ($16) and Duck Burger ($18) along with a splendid lineup of new items, including Market Ceviche ($19) made with green curry, strawberry, mint, jalapeño and grapefruit; Sweet Potato & Black Bean Burger ($15) with goat cheese, shaved red onion, lettuce, tomato and chipotle mayo; Veggie Curry Shepherd’s Pie ($17) with whipped sweet potato, lentils, mushroom, carrot and curry veggie gravy; Truffle Mac & Cheese ($11) with elbow macaroni, gouda, sharp cheddar and mozzarella cheese mix, black truffle and bread crumbs; and Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes ($12) with Yukon gold potatoes, cream, butter and roasted garlic.

Also known for its innovative cocktail program, guests can expect a mixture of the most popular classic Barley Hound creations from the past as well as seasonal selections.
