Closed for 15 months, the Tempe store required a full rebuild to the studs after the after-hours fire in October 2024. The fire, caused by a water heater, spread to the roof, causing major fire and water damage.

The $1.9 million complete rebuild involved five insurance companies. During the closure, all 36 Tempe employees were reassigned to the five other U.S. Egg Phoenix metro locations.

“We are incredibly grateful to open our doors again after such a long and emotional journey,” said George Gebran, chief operating officer of U.S. Egg. U.S. Egg’s Tempe location is at 131 E. Baseline Road.

“We are a family restaurant through and through, and we employ many Phoenix families. Our staff consists of cousins, brothers, sisters, husbands, wives, fathers and mothers. We’re excited to welcome our team and our customers back to our original, refreshed and rebuilt Tempe restaurant.”

The Phoenix restaurant chain was founded and operated by the Gebran family, including CEO Gebran Gebran, Chief Business Officer Mike Gebran, and Executive Chef Mario Gebran.

The restaurant has expanded from its original Tempe location in 1986 to five other restaurants across the Valley, with locations in Old Town Scottsdale, Moon Valley, Chandler, Bell Road and North Scottsdale. The company now employs 265 team members across six Valley locations.

Known for its original protein pancakes, the family-owned brunch spot celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. To honor the milestone, the restaurants will offer limited‑time specials, including the $22.95 Forty Flight with champagne, cranmosa and sunrise, the $14.49 anniversary pancakes with buttermilk pancakes topped with whipped cream in the shape of the number 40 and gold sprinkles, and the $5.95 celebration mocha with a chocolate rim, whipped cream and gold sprinkles. The 40th anniversary specials run through Monday, Aug. 31.

U.S. Egg Brunch + Cocktails is open 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily. t
