Jennings Haug Cunningham names 2 new partners

Jennings Haug Cunningham (JHC) announced that Shawdy Banihashemi and Robert “R. J.” Lamb were elected to the firm’s partnership, effective on January 1, 2018.   

Ms. Banihashemi focuses her practice in insurance defense and coverage as well as criminal defense work. Since joining the firm in 2016, she has helped to expand the firm’s work in these areas of legal services by representing major insurance companies and their insureds in all aspects of tort defense litigation and litigation for complex construction defect cases.

Ms. Banihashemi is actively involved with the State Bar of Arizona.  She previously served as the chair of the Council on Minorities and Women in the Law and is the current chair of the Diversity and Inclusion Conference. She earned her law degree in 2006 from the University of Baltimore School of Law.

Robert “R.J.” Lamb focuses his practice in commercial litigation and insurance defense.  The areas of his commercial litigation practice include creditor’s rights, surety & fidelity law, consumer defense, and construction law.  Since joining the firm in 2013, he has successfully represented the firm’s clients in all stages of litigation, including dispositive motion practice, mediations, arbitrations, jury trials, and on appeal to the Arizona Court of Appeals. 

A graduate of the University of Michigan, Mr. Lamb is active with its alumni association, Phoenix chapter. He earned his law degree in 2011 from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University, where he earned Cum Laude distinction.  Mr. Lamb is admitted to practice in the State of Arizona, the U.S. District of Arizona, and various tribal courts in Arizona and New Mexico. 

Industry veteran boosts Squire Patton Boggs team

Squire Patton Boggs announced that Stanton E. Johnson has joined as partner in the firm’s global Real Estate Practice, resident in Phoenix. Mr. Johnson arrives from Quarles & Brady LLP where he was a partner and former chair of the Arizona Real Estate Practice Group.

“Phoenix continues to attract strong domestic and international interest in real estate investment and development. Stan’s in-depth knowledge of the market and breadth of experience in commercial real estate will bolster our US West and national real estate teams,” said John Thomas, chair of the global Real Estate Practice. 

“We are excited to have Stan join the Phoenix office, deepening our strategic footprint in this geographic region,” said Lew Clark, office managing partner of the Phoenix office. “With strong ties in the local community, Stan is a dynamic and experienced individual who will be a tremendous asset to our clients and our firm.” 

Mr. Johnson represents developers, investors, lenders, receivers and end-users in acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, development, land banking and financing. He has extensive experience with master planned communities, office, retail, industrial and mixed-use projects.

Two attorneys join Mesch Clark Rothschild

Mesch Clark Rothschild announced the addition of two attorneys as associates at the firm.

Nathan S. Rothschild represents the third generation in his family to be part of the firm. He is the grandson of firm co-founder the late Lowell Rothschild.

Rothschild earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Gonzaga University School of Law in 2012. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in art history from Northern Arizona University. He was an attorney at the Law Offices of Robert G. Lewis for three years prior to joining MCR. He is a part of the personal injury and civil litigation sections at the firm.

A native of Tucson, Rothschild has been active in the community. He is a graduate of the 2015 class of Greater Tucson Leadership where nationally recognized leadership curriculum is taught and coupled with immersive field experiences in a breadth of local issues. He serves on the board of directors of the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona for which he also serves at the secretary, and the Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona Young Men’s Group.

Alex Winkelman earned his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the James E. Rogers College of Law at the University of Arizona in 2014 where he wrote for the Arizona Law Review. While in law school, he collaborated with faculty to write and ultimately publish six academic papers on a wide range of topics.

Prior to joining Mesch Clark Rothschild, Winkelman was a law clerk for Arizona Court of Appeals Judge Joseph Howard. Winkelman joins the firm in MCR’s employment law, appellate and civil litigation sections.

Gallagher & Kennedy announces newest shareholder

The law firm of Gallagher & Kennedy announced that Andrew E. Dudley has become the firm’s newest shareholder.  His new position became effective January 1, 2018.     

Since joining the firm in 2010, Andrew has advised some of the nation’s premier mining companies and trade associations regarding federal and state regulatory obligations.  His practice focuses on hazardous waste management, administrative law, recycling, and remediation.  Before joining Gallagher & Kennedy, Andrew worked at the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Department of Energy in Washington, D.C, on federal environmental, health, and safety programs.

“Over the past 7 years Andrew has honed his skills to become a key member of the firm’s accomplished environmental team,” said Dean Short, Managing Partner. “I look forward to seeing his practice develop as he becomes a future leader within the firm.”
