On Saturday, June 9th, hundreds of competitive bicyclists and novice riders will race around the track at Firebird International Raceway in the Best Buddies Audi Criterium and Bike Ride.

While competitive bicyclists race for cash, anyone can ride and show support for our Buddies while getting to ride on the actual Firebird race track — which is fast, clean, very wide and extremely safe.

The fun goes from 6 a.m. until noon with  four main events, including an Open Public Ride and a Buddy Tandem Ride. Tim Bolen, executive director of Best Buddies Arizona, says, ”holding the Buddy Tandem ride will be the first time for many of our youth chapter participants to ride a bicycle and will provide another platform for our Buddies to not only participate, but to once again be included with all of the other cyclists.”

The mission of Best Buddies Arizona is to establish a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, and leadership  development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Food and beverages will be available at the event  as well as a “cool zone” with fans, ice packs, chairs and lots of shade. Firebird International Raceway is located at 20000 S. Maricopa Rd. in Chandler.
