It’s inspirational, it’s entertaining and it’s the thing to do for you and the teen girl in your life. The second annual Shine Brightly Teens and Women Summit, sponsored by Financial Life Planners, LLC will be taking place at the U.S. Airways Arena in Phoenix on Saturday, September 21, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Hosted by the Girls Rule! Foundation in partnership with the YWCA and Phoenix Mercury, the annual summit will host a day of inspirational and life-changing workshops for girls to help them build bright futures.
“This is the Girls Rule! Foundation’s big event of the year and we’ve made exciting changes to up the ante in every way from our first summit,” said Girls Rule! co-founder Dena Patton. “There are many ways to support young women in seeking out their own healthy, successful futures. The summit not only kick-starts an ongoing conversation about common issues facing adolescent girls, but it gives expert tools to help tackle them.”
Beginning with a light breakfast and photo booth fun, Arizona teens and women are then invited to hear experts share and provide hands-on tools for building and maintaining self-esteem, making healthy life choices, financial planning, and achieving their goals and dreams. At lunch, there will be entertainment by the Phoenix Mercury Hip Hop Squad, unique raffle baskets, and four Arizona teens will be awarded the Brilliant, Beautiful and Bold Role Model Award.
“The Phoenix Mercury is passionate about empowering young girls to dream big and accomplish their goals in all stages of life,” said Amber Cox, Phoenix Mercury COO. “Programs offered through the Girls Rule! Foundation lay the foundation for young women around the Valley to learn the tools to do just that. They are teaching girls how to make their voices heard, to be strong and to never back away from something they are passionate about.”
“Although Girls Rule! is not a sports-focused organization, aligning with the Mercury made perfect sense,” said Girls Rule! co-founder Stephanie Millner. “Our missions are parallel. We both want to empower the younger generations in our community to be leaders, to know their value, and to offer an inspired path for success.”
