Scottsdale Mayor Jim Lane will make the opening remarks for the Business United for Scottsdale Schools’ (BUSS) next Business & Education Partnership Breakfast. The event is August 30 at SkySong, the ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center. It begins at 7:30 a.m. at Building 3, Synergy I and II.

“We want to display the positive things that our school district and the community college are doing to help students find their pathway to a career,” said Julie Brassell, BUSS Executive Director. “The focus of this event is to outline our career and technical education (CTE) programs as providing our students with the opportunities to engage in work based learning activities that teach our students the marketable skills to be competitive in today’s fast-paced, technology driven economy”

The inaugural event last February drew more than 200 Scottsdale business, education and community leaders.

BUSS is a workforce development and an education initiative of the Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce. With the Scottsdale Chamber Foundation’s 501.c.3 organization at its center, BUSS is a collaboration of various entities including the City of Scottsdale Economic Development Department, Scottsdale Community College, the Scottsdale Charros, the Scottsdale Unified School District, the Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce, and the members of the business community.

The breakfast begins at 7:30 a.m. in Synergy I with registration, networking and BUSS career program volunteer opportunities around the student exhibits that feature CTE curriculum. Some of the student exhibits and performances are from SCC Film School, Chaparral H.S. Culinary, and Arcadia H.S. Musical Arts and Sciences.
