Women of Scottsdale came together Friday, Oct. 18 to mark the 15th anniversary of an organization for women who work or live in Scottsdale and who gather monthly to celebrate the uniqueness of the community.

Members and guests met at The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa where Mayor Jim Lane proclaimed Oct. 18 Women of Scottsdale Day in this city. He commended co-founder Linda M. Herold for her drive and energy and commitment to the community with grace and style as a true “spirit of Scottsdale.”

Led by Director Stacey Bailey, the organization recognized past directors in attendance including Marsha Petrie Sue, Kelly Zitlow, Debbie Davis, Tracee Lee Curtis, Michelle Greenberg, and Mary Contreras as well as Woman of the Year recipients Mary Manross, Paula Cullison, Hon. Carolyn Allen, Donna Reagan, Pam Gaber and co-founder and former Woman of the Year Wink Blair.

Arizona State Historian Marshall Trimble shared a story about growing up in Arizona, noting his mother, an extraordinary women who embraced Arizona with her young family.

Luncheon sponsor National Bank of Arizona was represented by Nancy Kinnard, Kate Van Driel and Sharon Pfeifer. ROLFS provided favors for the event, Rolf Lohse and Francis Tesmer joined the luncheon celebration. Delightful cupcakes were created by The Westin Kierland for the event, and Scottsdale Airpark News was the publications partner.

More than 100 members and guests attended the celebration luncheon including Hon. Michele Reagan, and Scottsdale City Council member Suzanne Klapp.

Women of Scottsdale began with 32 friends and associates who first met in 1998 under the leadership of Linda M. Herold and Wink Blair. This premier networking group includes women from all walks of life who come together to get to know each other better and for career and personal development. Members share ideas and contacts as they establish friendships, promote advocacy and share information and opportunities. The organization meets the third Friday of every month at The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa. The next meeting is Nov. 15 when the Annual Spirit of Scottsdale luncheon will introduce the 2014 philanthropy partner.
