When you’re an adolescent, navigating everyday life is challenging enough. When you’re sick and requiring hospital care, life becomes infinitely more complicated. MIHS recently unveiled a new space to make its teen patients feel a little more comfortable at its dedicated MIHS Teen Den.

“We are excited to see this project come together,” said MIHS CEO Steve Purves. “It has clearly turned into an incredible room and there is no doubt our young patients will enjoy this space for years to come.”

The 525-square-foot space, located on the third floor of Maricopa Medical Center, was remodeled to give it a non-clinical feel with more color, millwork, a sliding door, new ceilings, lighting and flooring.

“Big thanks to three organizations that were instrumental in making this happen,” Purves said. “Velocity Retail Group raised more than $11,000, Orcutt | Winslow designed the fantastic space and Kitchell oversaw the entire project from start to finish.”

Talent and supplies were also provided by Alliance Fire Protection, Bizarre Wood, Cannon and Wendt Electric, Child’s Play, Corporate Technology Solutions, Haworth, Lanmor, NKW Inc., Rembrandt, Spectra Flooring, TD Industries, TP Acoustics and Tucson Business Interiors.
