NAIOP Arizona was named Large Chapter of the Year Tuesday at the annual Merit Awards gala held during the 2016 NAIOP Chapter Leadership & Legislative Retreat at the Capital Hilton in Washington, D.C.
NAIOP Arizona keeps alive a winning streak of 11 straight years of bringing home a national award. This is NAIOP Arizona’s second Large Chapter of the Year honor, also winning it 10 years ago. NAIOP Arizona won the Large Chapter Merit Award in the Education category.
“We are honored to be recognized by our peers as the most outstanding chapter in the nation for our large networking events, educational initiatives, public policy advocacy at the Capitol and philanthropic contributions to the community,” said NAIOP President Tim Lawless.
Joining Lawless in Washington were NAIOP Arizona representatives Tammy Carr of Mortenson Construction, Tony Lydon of JLL, Andrew Cheney of Lee & Associates, Molly Ryan Carson of Ryan Companies US, and Jonathan Tratt of Tratt Properties.
“On behalf of our Board, I’d like to congratulate our hundreds of volunteers and the thousands of individuals in our industry who attended more than 45 NAIOP events last year,” said 2016 Chairman Bob Hubbard of LBA Realty. “In particular, I would like to thank last year’s Chairman, Tom Johnston (Savills Studley), who made it his priority to expand and improve our educational offerings. I am proud that our trade association puts on a platform of events where deals get done that create jobs for our economy.”
NAIOP Arizona captured the Large Chapter Award for Education on the merit of its Developing Leaders Mentor Program, a nine-month, 40-hour education, networking and leadership program.
Last year, NAIOP Arizona’s 2014 Chairman Megan Creecy-Herman of Liberty Property Trust was honored with the prestigious national award for Outstanding Leadership by a Chapter President. Also last year, NAIOP Arizona won national awards for Best Communication Tool among large chapters in the U.S., and Best Sponsorship Program.
