Maracay Homes, a wholly owned company of the TRI Pointe Group (NYSE:TPH), purchased 37 homesites for $2.1 million. The sites are located near the Superstition Mountains in north Mesa, Arizona, the homebuilder announced Friday.
The parcel, situated east of Brown and Crimson Roads, two miles east of the Loop 202, is zoned and pre-platted for 1/3 acre, oversized lots on 18.9 acres. Maracay currently is completing the engineering and final plat for the lots with plans to develop the property into a new, single-family neighborhood scheduled to begin welcoming residents by late 2017, said Tom Lemon, Maracay Homes’ vice president of land acquisitions and development.
“This is a great infill site that opens the door for Maracay to return to north Mesa,” said Lemon, adding that Maracay Homes has five neighborhoods in Mesa’s Eastmark master-planned community, but it has been more than a decade since the homebuilder occupied this part of the city. “The new community will offer large-square-footage floor plans with optional RV and accessory garages for all of those outdoor enthusiasts who are looking for space to store their gear and hobbyists who need extra room to set up their own workshop.”
Richard Arambula, of Scottsdale’s City to City Commercial, brokered the $2.1 million transcation between Maracay and the seller, M. Lauren Hendrix of Gilbert. Maracay plans to offer a mix of floor plans from several of its plan series, ranging from 2,685 to 4,152 square feet and featuring 50-foot wide to 70-foot wide homes.
Located at the gateway to the Superstition Wilderness Area, the new neighborhood is just minutes from more than 160,000 acres of Sonoran Desert backcountry, featuring 180 miles of well-maintained trail that navigates through the nearby canyons, mountains and national landmarks. The area is also home to the famous Apache Trail, which leads to the popular Canyon and Apache lakes, providing families with endless recreational opportunities. Additionally, residents will enjoy the community’s convenient access to popular East Valley dining, shopping and entertainment options via the Loop 202 freeway.
