“Mike and I grew up in this company and it’s become a part of us, so it seemed only natural for us to step into ownership,” states Piering. “It’s a great opportunity for us to continue the leadership Jim has provided over the last 50 years and take Sun State Builders forward.”

Under Forst and Piering’s leadership, Sun State Builders will continue to serve Arizona with its expertise in design-build projects for the commercial sector and it will expand its services to include a new division dedicated to multifamily development.

“We have an interest in identifying areas for continued improvement, while maintaining our commitment to quality construction and service for our customers,” explains Forst. “It is also important that we keep a pulse on market changes and adapt as needed.”

The company is known for its portfolio of projects that includes state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities and distribution centers, Class A office buildings, business parks and retail centers ranging from 5,000 to 1,000,000 square feet. Sun State Builders works with leading real estate developers, investors, corporations and businesses on ground-up builds and tenant improvement projects.

Sun State Builders will retain the company name and its current staff. With the change of ownership, they are introducing a new company logo and website. The privately held company currently has a team of more than 60 employees. Sun State Builders is headquartered in Tempe with offices located at 1050 West Washington Street, Suite 214.
