Willmeng is an Arizona-based commercial general contractor that specializes in ground-up and tenant improvement projects for the public and private market sectors in the Southwest. Willmeng is committed to building excellence and preserving the company’s high value to the clients it serves. Headquartered in Phoenix, the company also has an office in Flagstaff, Ariz. and employs more than 340 employees. In 2022, Willmeng worked on more than $1 billion in projects, making it Arizona’s largest privately-owned general construction firm. For Willmeng, it’s selection to the 2023 Inc. Best Workplaces list is the fourth consecutive year it has been recognized by the publication.

After collecting data from thousands of submissions, Inc. selected 591 honorees this year. Each company that was nominated took part in an employee survey, conducted by Quantum Workplace, which included topics such as management effectiveness, perks, fostering employee growth, and overall company culture. The organization’s benefits were also audited to determine overall score and ranking.

“Willmeng is a place that lives up to our company’s purpose of, ‘Genuine Place of Purpose,’ which we make our first priority every day throughout the organization,” said Willmeng CEO James Murphy. “It doesn’t happen by accident. We have built this company on great relationships with our clients and trade partners, but most importantly, great relationships with each other. Even as we’ve grown, we’ve maintained that family atmosphere and we’ll continue to work together on being a place people want to be a part of.”

“Being named to Best Workplaces is an honor that only a small fraction of companies have been able to claim,” says Inc. Editor-in-Chief Scott Omelianuk. “Proving to the world that you’re a magnet for talent and have a culture that keeps teams engaged, productive, and proud to come to work is a truly remarkable achievement.”
