Sonora Quest Laboratories, Arizona’s leading provider of diagnostic testing and information services, announced that it will be relocating its primary laboratory and corporate headquarters to a 170,000 square-foot facility in Phoenix. The new laboratory, scheduled to be operational by the second quarter of 2020, will facilitate expansion of advanced healthcare diagnostics and services. Sonora Quest aims to enhance its healthcare solutions available to thousands of healthcare providers, health plans, and millions of patients throughout Arizona.
The state-of-the-art laboratory will be designed in collaboration with Perkins + Will, an award-winning architecture firm with extensive laboratory design expertise. The existing building, originally a data center, is one of the most structurally safe buildings in Arizona and has extensive back-up power capabilities to help reduce the risk of downtime that may impact timely delivery of lab results and diagnostic information.
Workflow optimization and process efficiencies will be integral in the design of the laboratory, which will allow for expanded capacity to support innovative solutions, market expansion, and growth initiatives. The optimized laboratory layout will enable Sonora Quest to improve healthcare outcomes and patient care by reducing the time needed to provide lab results.
“Our new laboratory will position us to best support our goal of differentiating Sonora Quest through the value we provide to our customers,” said Dave Dexter, President and CEO for Sonora Quest Laboratories. “As we move into our third decade of serving the entire continuum of healthcare, a new, modern laboratory is crucial to support our commitment to our employees, and to the healthcare providers and patients we serve.”
Given the close proximity to its existing location, Sonora Quest will relocate its laboratory in a phased approach to avoid disruption in services. As one of the largest employers in Arizona, the new location will continue to serve as main headquarters for more than 1,100 Sonora Quest employees.
