The Weitz Company Phoenix office walked away as a two-time winner at the 3rd Annual SMPS Arizona Marketing Communication Awards (MCA) on Thursday, April 14.

SMPS Arizona Marketing Communications Awards showcase the best and brightest creations of top local A/E/C marketing and business development professionals. The competition is friendly, but fierce, as leading industry marketers submit their most innovative campaigns of 2015 for awards across several categories including corporate identity, holiday piece, newsletter, special event, and video.

Weitz received honors in the following two categories:

Best Video:

“Two Minutes with Weitz.”  Weitz and Sun Health took an information-sharing activity during the construction of The Colonnade called “Coffee with the Contractor” and turned it into a video series called “Two Minutes with Weitz.” Since this project took place on an existing occupied campus, the residents appreciated being kept in the loop and the approachability of the Weitz staff members since filming began.

The Award judges saw this as a great way to give information to the client and stakeholders as well as an opportunity to “sell” their services.  Additionally, they saw this as a creative way to give clients a monthly re-cap in a video format instead of on paper. Weitz is thrilled to share this honor with Sun Health. The “talent” and production crew for the videos were: Shane Steere, Shaun Duffy, Ken Reinstein (Sun Health) and Allen Butler (Schnebly Hill Records).

Best Special Event:

Oktoberfest. While Weitz values networking with the clients and prospective clients, they also felt it was important to network with the subcontractor community and say thank you for their hard work on past projects. From this idea, Oktoberfest was born as an appreciation event for their subcontractors.

This past year, Weitz celebrated its 160th anniversary and used the event to reinforce their core value to the Arizona community. Since the event started three years ago, Weitz has increased attendance, came in under budget and developed new relationships which lead to project success. The Award judges liked that they clearly laid out a plan and the unique audience. They also felt this was a great way to reach out and thank subcontractors recognizing they are the lifeline of a project’s success.
